About Us

The ICWOA was established in the summer of 2015 by a group of NCAA wrestling referees who understand their responsibility to educate, mentor and develop wrestling referees in an effort to ensure the sport of wrestling continues to grow. Wrestling has been gaining popularity at all levels from youth to collegiate and a need has been recognized for additional wrestling referees in most areas of the United States; however, the number of NCAA certified wrestling officials has not grown at the same rate as the sport itself.

As an association, we pride ourselves in the fact that we have several members representing us in each of the six collegiate national championship events annually (NCAA Div I/II/III, NAIA, NJCAA and NCWA). We also have recognized affiliations with associations who share a similar goal and mission, as this provides opportunities to share resources with these groups and form a unified effort to grow the sport of wrestling. If there is a wrestling event taking place in the United States, there’s a very good chance the ICWOA is represented by a member or affiliate member at that event, we look forward to seeing all of you on the mat!

And, finally, we’d love to hear from you! To submit your questions, comments or suggestions, simply fill out the "Join Us" form … we’ll be back in contact with you as soon as possible.
